We are pleased to announce the eleventh year of the Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholars Program. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation will bestow upon selected seniors graduating from Ventura County high schools the designation of Presidential Foundation Scholar. This distinction is reserved for those students who participate in the scholarship process and have exemplified outstanding leadership skills as well as strong character throughout their four years of high school. Scholarships will be paid in full within the year awarded directly to the college of the scholar's choice. Awards are designated for tuition, books, and room and board only.
This year the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is pleased to once again award $50,000 in scholarships with the top scholarships between $5,000 and $10,000. Scholarships will be paid in full within the year awarded directly to the college of the scholar's choice. Awards are designated for tuition, books, and room and board only. In addition, each of the top students will select a teacher to receive $500 for use within their classroom.
Students with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 are encouraged to apply. Most people are not aware that Ronald Reagan was an average student; for an 'average' student, he attained greatness. We ask those writing letters of recommendation to address the scope of the applicant's leadership qualities thoroughly. Because we believe there are many students and future leaders who are similar to our 40th President, we will focus on the applicants' leadership skills first and academic skills second.
All applications must be received or postmarked by 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010. Candidates will be notified of the status of their application by Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Instructions are on the downloadable application. Any applications that are incomplete will be disqualified.
